My Freaking Awesome Tardis'

So I've been working on making mini Tardis' (plural) to make a ring/earring set. My first one came out pretty good and I was super stoked. THEN. I made two smaller ones for earrings. The colors, the shading, per.fec.tion. I loved my first one tremendously, but when these two were done I was over the moon. They will be amazing as finished jewelry if it doesn't kill me first.

Yesterday in my excitement to pull my first try out of the oven I nearly knocked myself out on the open cupboard corner, right in the forehead. Lots of arnica later I have no bruise, but still hurts a ton. Then now still jumping around excited for these two little guys I was shaking the can of Workable Fixitif and slam my elbow into the edge of my chair. Dead armed instantly. I made it out though, and have some awesome pieces to show for it. We all suffer for our art, right?

My first try:

The new baby Tardis':

The lighting isn't great, but I was so excited I didn't want to take the time to pull out the lightbox. Now what did I make that for? :)

New Jewelry

So the last few days I've been on a creating spree! Lots of rings, and a few pairs of earrings. Here is a preview of some of what I've done. Tell me what you think.

I'm going to have a contest for the month of September. Details coming soon. :)

Natalie Portman Drawing

So today I got in a sketching kind of mood. I took a few hours of and on to draw a portrait of Natalie Portman. I used this photo as reference:

Then in my photo software changed it to black and white so I could see the shadows better. This was my result:

It's not perfect, but for my first regular sized shot at a portrait I'm pretty proud of it.

Eye Practice

So I've been sketching a bit lately. I've tried drawing realistic looking faces before, but they never really came out right. Then I started to watch some tutorials and read up a bit on how to bring a sketch to life. I started with eyes. I figured that if I could make the eyes look right, bring the life into them, then it's downhill from there. So here's what I have so far, with my first tries at the top and going down are my continued efforts:

After that I started to dabble in working on noses and mouths and came up with this guy on my second try:

I was pretty happy with my results. Especially on my second try. I will continue practicing and when I feel ready, will work on parlaying these into water color. Any tips and tricks on how to do lips a little more realistic? I feel like I'm missing it. Maybe too wide a top lip, and more shading or something? Hmmm....

Light Box: Complete

So I finished the light box. Not a whole lot to look at, but I think it'll work just fine. I tried using some little lamps I had to take some pics of my handmade jewelry, but I wasn't really satisfied with the results. So I'm going to try using my boyfriend's Happy Light and see how that goes. Photos to follow soon.

I'm thinking of doing a free giveaway soon. Maybe some earrings, a ring, maybe both. If you are interested, follow me to keep up to date on the haps around here. Any suggestions on what you would like to see here? Would a contest or random draw be better? Please comment and let me know. :) Thanks
